Good morning, everyone, and welcome to today’s Daily Devotional for Monday, October 12!
As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in Canada, let’s take a moment to remember this truth:
REMEMBER THE GOODNESS OF GOD.
Life moves quickly. There are responsibilities to manage, needs to bring before the Lord, and situations we are still praying about.
Today gives us an opportunity to pause and remember the ways God has cared for us.
Psalm 103:2 (KJV) says:
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Family, David reminded his own soul to praise the Lord and remember His goodness. We sometimes need that reminder too.
We can become so focused on what we need next that we forget the mercies we have already received.
Think about someone who stood beside you during a difficult season. Remember a time when God’s Word brought you comfort, when someone offered practical help, or when you found strength to take another step.
Those memories can become reasons to thank Him today.
Thanksgiving can also be a tender day. Some people are missing someone they love. Others are facing illness, financial pressure, or loneliness.
If that is your situation, you can bring those feelings honestly before the Lord. You do not have to hide your grief to offer Him thanks. You can thank Him for the love you shared, ask for comfort, and trust Him to help you through this day.
Above all, remember the goodness God has shown us through Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life.
Whatever is on your table today, let praise have a place in your heart.
Take a quiet moment and name three things you are thankful for. Then consider how you can share kindness with someone else.
Make a phone call. Send an encouraging message. Tell someone how much their care has meant to you.
As you walk through this Thanksgiving Monday, remember the mercies you have received and entrust your present needs to the Lord.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithful care. Help me remember the mercies I sometimes overlook. Thank You for Jesus, for forgiveness, and for the people who have shown me love. Please comfort those who are grieving, strengthen those who are struggling, and help those who feel alone find care and companionship. Give me a thankful heart and help me share Your kindness with someone today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
