Good morning, everyone, and welcome to today’s Daily Devotional for Sunday, October 11!

What a blessing it is to begin this day together with our hearts turned toward the Lord.

Whatever you may be carrying today, remember this truth:

DRAW NEAR TO GOD.

Life can become busy, and our thoughts can become crowded with responsibilities, worries, and unanswered questions. Sometimes we reach the end of a day and realize we have hardly paused to pray.

Yet God invites us to come near to Him.

James 4:8 (KJV) reminds us:

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

Family, this invitation calls us to turn toward God with sincere hearts. In the surrounding verses, James speaks about submitting to God, turning away from sin, and humbling ourselves before Him.

Drawing near means bringing Him our attention, our struggles, and our willingness to follow His ways.

You do not have to find impressive words before you pray. You can begin honestly:

“Lord, I need You today. Help me listen to Your Word and walk in Your ways.”

Through Jesus Christ, we can approach our heavenly Father with confidence in His mercy. We can confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, and receive the help we need to take a faithful next step.

Perhaps today you need to put aside a distraction, open your Bible, or spend a few quiet minutes in prayer. If you are gathering for worship, come ready to listen, praise the Lord, and encourage someone around you.

You may not experience a strong emotion every time you pray. Keep seeking Him. His faithfulness is greater than the changing feelings of a moment.

Take time today to read a passage of Scripture slowly. Consider what it teaches you about God and how you can respond.

Then carry that truth into your day.

When worry rises, turn it into prayer.

When you recognize something that needs to change, ask God for strength to obey.

When you notice His goodness, pause and thank Him.

As you walk through this Sunday, remember that you can turn toward the Lord wherever you are. Make room to seek Him and respond to His loving invitation.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting me to draw near to You. Forgive me for the times I let distractions crowd You out of my day. Help me come before You with humility and honesty. Teach me through Your Word, strengthen me to turn away from sin, and guide my choices today. Thank You that through Jesus I can come to You with confidence in Your mercy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
